Ofcourse required , For patients coming with lots of stress a good support required , instead of making more tensions and pressure , Nurses have to build a better enviorement for the people . Every role has its own way of redening service in a better way .
Its definitely yes! Us nurses render quality care to those who are in need of our help. We are obliged to care to those sick and injured. As an Angels in the sickroom (where nurses are known of), it is part of our duty to have good customer service and public relation skills. Having these skills is a kind of therapy wherein it can help our patient recover even more. By this, we are building rapport and establishing trust between nurse and client in order to have adequate assessment and good prognosis. :)
Every role is dealing with PR skills. Even if is not a "public figure" every employee is uder PR loop, internal or external. PR skills are demanded in various ways in every job. Even if you do not work with "customers" directly, PR skills will effect you in some way. So, there is no job in the earth where PR skills is not "required". Just depend in which way or quantity.
it is one of the attributes that a nurse must possess. having good interpersonal skills builds confidence and trust of the patient to the nurse. without it, conflicts may arise from small issues. :)
