You can either follow Mr. Yousef advice, which I almost followed it in professional career, but keep in mind that some certs require IS experience, such as; CISSP, CISA, and CISM. Or you can register for a credit classes for a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity from one of the best universities, such as UMUC (www.umuc.edu) and you can either take the classes online or in classrooms.

If you are (IT support, Service desk analyst ...etc) and you want to switch and jump to IT security filed it will be easy, just you need to follow the below steps:

1. You need to start to build your knowledge in IT security filed by Reading Reading Reading until you gain the basic concept and security essential. Books such as essential security and comptia security plus is very useful as a solid base.

2. Now we consider you have the IT security concept, the next move will be toward the certifications. I highly recommended to take security plus certificate from CompITA.

3. For first steps to advance your career you need to have the knowledge and may be certified in CEH, CISSP.

4. Finally you need to think on the IT security from the product level since many companies has different certifications and courses for their own products such as Juniper, CISCO, Checkpoint and Palo alto firewalls.

5. You can finally look for course such as CISM which give you the capability understand security management.

There are SANs institute which consider the best place for security courses around the world but the courses there is very expensive and reach to5000$ maximum per course.

Good luck in your future
