What is leaderships
It must be people driven. Walk the talk and inspire people. The leader must follow mission, vision, values, strategy and compliance and the team will be with him/her.
Leadership is taking responsibility and not charge. Leadership is understanding peoples emotions and putting them together in a way that build strong team. Leadership is going beyond your limits and leadership is being tolerant to failures.

The key to leadership is acceptance. To accept that you have the responsibility: to accept that if a team member is persistently late for work it is your fault: to accept that success or failure of the task is in your hands, and on your head.

Many of the answers list skills which are sometimes useful in leadership, and that's great, but the key is what holds the thing together. Remember, "key" is not being used in the sense connected with locking a door: it is in the sense of the keystone of an arch. Take away the keystone, and the arch falls. Take away the acceptance, and a leader just becomes somebody who is bossing everyone about.
