Considering that you are managing a small to medium size project.

As a user of MSP, I find the software easy to use on my computer, the changes done in2010 version were really helpful, and made it even more user friendly.
Advantage of MSP is it's very wide use across almost all industries I have worked in, while P6 is somehow still dominating in complex projects (mostly in engineering and construction), probably due to the price of the package, and the heritage of the program that links to engineers.
I think Primarvera has the advantage of being used and modified by more than one person at a time, and would be very useful for resource levelling, especially in complex programmes and specialised skills.
You need to ask yourself, which of those are you more comfortable with, and which would get you the benefits you desire, if its a simple project, then go MSP, if it's a complicated one, you need to see if you really want to link databases (this is a very good selling functionality from Oracle), and use the additional functionalities of P6, are they worth the investment? Do you have the people who can work on P6 or MSP, how much time you can spare in editing project plans and extracting data from it (knowing that the performance of P6 is superior to MSP in terms of processing)

The software to use depends much on the type of Industry we are associated with.
For Eg Primavera are very benefical for the Construction Companies and Engineering Companies/Consultants.
Primavera has the below advantages over MS Project: A centralized database that multiple users can access at any given time.
Different levels of authority can be assigned to different users for security Allows multiple project- level construction schedules.
Resources can be assigned individual work calendars;this allows for simulteneous updates to be made to all construction schedules for a specific job undertaken.

Depend on your career, if it is constraction (huge of activities) primavera better, if your career are his projects with small or medium activities then MS - project better.

Both has its ups and downs however MS Microsoft Project seems to be better in terms of use and flexibility.
Its functionality can be extended by add-ins as well.
Over and above all the features, its also your personal preference which will matter.

My choice depends on the size of the project.
For a small project I would prefer to use MSP as it is easy and quick to set up and complete.
If the client has no preference then for a small size project use MSP.
Primavera  is more professional specially when it comes to Cost Management.
For a large project it is a must in the construction industry specially.
