It all depends upon weather, geographical and environmental conditions it is exposed to.

Further it also depends upon quality of water like water temperature, Water TDS or salt content, PH etc.

Because options are always evaluated on basis of following:

1) Initial Cost

2) Operational Cost / Maintenace Cost

3) Expected Life

4) Purpose Serving / Compatibility

If we work for supplying water to any residential building , in terms of choosing the main supply pipe we choose  a Galvanized Pipe for areas which suffering from the sun heating with1 inch diameter as minimum and using Polypropylene or PVC or  CPVC in the interior areas with diameters3/4 inch and1/2 inch .

In general, the economic and budget factors will rule our choices .

I strongly suggest that people use CPVC as long as it is Flow guard Gold CPVC. Don't tempt yourself by mixing PVC and CPVC. CPVC is rated for both hot and cold, PVC is cold only, the outside diameter of the two are different so a wider variety of fittings will be necessary, the cements and applications are different, etc. I don't recommend the copper because of it's vulnerability to corrosion, (all water is corrosive to copper). The corrosion dissolves into your potable supply adding heavy metals like tin, antimony, of course copper as well as sulfites and sulfates. Flowguard Gold is quieter, will outlast the copper, and you don't have to use a torch in a finished home to install it.

  • For longer and better lifespan it is advisable to used POLYPROPYLENE PIPES,
  • though PVC / uPVC/ cPVC pipes are also good in households because it is less cheaper but in a long term services it could not compare to POLYPROPYLENE PIPES,
  •  POLYPROPYLENE PIPES connection is welded while PVC / uPVC/ cPVC pipes is usually by glued connection.
  • Some contractor will combined both to save the cost , PVC / uPVC/ cPVC pipes for COLD water while POLYPROPYLENE PIPES for HOT water, but if it is for a big housing project it is better to used one type, it would be much easier for the procurement to deal with one than two different types.
  • TO SOME IT UP  POLYPROPYLENE PIPES IS THE EXCELLENT CHOICE.
