Solution Selling should be based on multiple parameters which can be  like time , cost, ease of doing business, maintenance , trouble shooting and potential network / software risk. There should be a clear decision by CIO , CTO  on the level of the automation based on the above parameters that will efficiently smoothen business operations without deviating  the IT allocated budget (if required the budget can be increased based on the requirement)  ,  and compliance to the business process
