Is it worth doing a Masters in English Literature? Why and why not?

Well, it depends, Leen. If you're planning to pursue an English Language teaching career, whether in higher education or within a school domain, then this is definitely an asset for both, your qualifications and credentials. But if you're into anything else that uses English as a tool for work or medium of communication, then you better think of a more relevant field of study.

It depends upon what you want out of it and where you are placed. If you want a job in the Middle East, do not go for masters in literature, go for language or linguistics. If you want personal satisfaction and you plan to pursue your career somewhere else, literature is ok.

Of course, that's what i'am doing :). It's good for upcoming studies. Who knows what the future holds!

WHY? it intruduces the student into research which leads to strange discoveries on how broad language is and language specific to individuals.

 

WHY NOY?if we were studying to aquire skills and work in a certain domain, a bachelor's degree should be enough
