As a professional in this field, I'm feeling quite reluctant to sign an employment contract with someone I've never met or spoken to.Is the traditional job interview with the person who will ultimately be your boss, a thing of the past?
The reality out there is that the recruitment agencies are the 'new bosses' and they make the decisions, conduct interviews, etc. it is only when their contracts with the colleges/universities/schools stipulate that the actual employer prefers to conduct the interview or make the final decision - that they take a back seat. With everything else the recruitment agency is the boss, i.e. they make the initial offer, draft and sign the employment contract, place the new employee, arrange transport, and accommodation, make salary payments, the whole9 yards. Hence if a recruitment agency has a 'bad reputation', i.e. many negative blogs from expats, my advice is: proceed with caution, translate and (re-) interpret every thing clause on the offer and contract.
