Instrumental and observational factors have affected the FUSE data quality throughout the mission. The analysis of FUSE spectra is complicated by the presence of extra emission (airglow features and scattered light) and strong interstellar absorption (mainly H2 and H I lines) as well as various artifacts and distortions inherent in the FUSE instrument itself.
