Its very important and beneficial conducting and participating in surveys as long as it have a good reasons and goals, and its well structured, designed and implemented right with a very good re-presentable sample size.  and of course if you will share the results with the participants as this will as incentive for us to participate. 

Good designed survey can really help us in our planning or lessons learned and base our decisions on evidence.
