I would have to say modernist and postmodernist literature. Twentieth century authors and poets rely heavily on creative images and metaphors, which makes readers sometimes pause and marvel at the images used and read them again and again.
My style isn't set yet, I used to read a lot of Jane Austen initially and that influenced my initial writing, but over the years I've come to identify most with the American short story writing style. Joyce Carol Oates' style resonates a lot with me.
