What means "rigid boss", a boss who do not understand your advice or job contribution and refuse your ideas... then I would say, pls be patient, listen carefully why the boss makes him/her self rigid (are there business motives which you are not aware off) and try again with clear communication by exchange of information instead of personal grievances.

You need to change "yours" to adopte this steps:

  1. Adapt to them. They won’t adapt to you.
  2. Admire their strengths and say so. Say, “Your personal consistency brings stability and consistency to our organization.”
  3. Accept, embrace, and answer their discomforts or fears. You’re crazy if you tell them it will be ok or things will work out.
  4. Give them time to mull things over. Don’t spring stuff on them.
  5. Avoid adding stress to their stressful lives.
  6. Say at least three positives for one negative "Employ the 3 to 1 rule".
  7. Be on their team. Help them succeed.
