1. The only way to find out is to TEST. Use both for about a month or two and compare the results (traffic, leads and sales). That's what any pro digital marketer will tell you.

GENERAL RULE OF THUMB: The best social media channel for product marketing is the one where MAJORITY of your TARGET CUSTOMERS ARE USING - not just Facebook, Pinterest or any other - if the purpose of marketing is to get results (FACT is that most people jump onto the popular social media sites trying to 'me too').
3. In my experience marketing through the web, I discovered that social media is not a one size fits all.
4. So, my advice: First research where the bulk of YOUR OWN TARGET CUSTOMERS ARE, not just the most popular network. Test to find out.
An easy check: If your product is a visual thing such as Fashion, jewelry etc - PINTEREST may be it.
BUT know this: Facebook has millions of anyone's target market and most people are either just finding out about Pinterest or don't even know how to use it.
