Marketing is about creating awareness for the brand or the company - providing customers an understanding of which products or services are being sold - in addition, it is the creation of a brand, in other words, what the company can do for the customers. As for the sales, it is the creation of leads - the end result of the marketing process, but both has their own measurement criteria - as marketing and sales don't contribute to each other.

Marketing is about communicating the value of a product, service or brand to customers or consumers for the purpose of promoting or selling that product, service, or brand. The oldest – and perhaps simplest and most natural form of marketing – is 'word of mouth' (WOM) marketing, in which consumers convey their experiences of a product, service or brand in their day-to-day communications with others. These communications can of course be either positive and negative. In recent times, the internet has provided a platform for mass, electronic WOM marketing (e-WOM), with consumers actively engaged in rating and commenting on goods and services.

In for-profit enterprise the main purpose of marketing is to increase product sales and therefore the profits of the company. In the case of nonprofit marketing, the aim is to increase the take-up of the organisation's services by its consumers or clients. Governments often employ social marketing to communicate messages with a social purpose, such as a public health or safety message, to citizens. In for-profit enterprise marketing often acts as a support for the sales team by propagating the message and information to the desired target audience.

Marketing techniques include choosing target markets through market analysis and market segmentation, as well as understanding consumer behavior and advertising a product's value to the customer.

Sales involves selling and prospecting. Selling is helping prospects make purchase decisions like what do I need, when would I need it, and how well would it fit with our current culture?

When I think of selling I think of salespeople finding prospects who are ready, willing, and able to buy and then meeting with these prospects and putting a deal together

Well consider this diagram it will explain the answer in simple way

Marketing--------->>> Sales----------->>>Customer services

You need effective marketing to bring sales of product and services. Sales will then in turn need effective Customer services, to handle your current and future prospect sales.

For remarking you will need to follow same diagram again.

Re-Marketing.............>>>> Sales............>>>> Effective C/S

This is an important question, because a carefully crafted combination of sales and marketing is vital for successful business growth. "Selling" or making sales consists of interpersonal interaction-the one-on-one meetings, telephone calls and networking-that you engage in with prospects and customers.
