I think it depends on the business model we are about as if it is relating to figures or very detailed tasks i think that will be more helpful way of work and value can be added of this choice but on other hand if it is about rendering services and presentable attitudes is important ! then i think in this case working from home is not a valid option .

some times effective

I do agree with you on that, but at the same time I hate the distracting aspect of it.

Having worked remotely for 3 years from a home office, I can conclude that it's not always a good thing. Firstly, it needs a good amount of self-discipline and focus since personal distractions are inevitable at home and also there is no deadline to be at work and start working. It surely does give you a certain degree of freedom and makes you more accountable for the work you are doing but on the other side there are days when I used to miss having a regular office and interacting with colleagues as well as learning the ropes of other functions like finance, production, supply chain, etc. from them which being in office I can do every day.So in my opinion, if there is an option to combine the two- working in office and at home, that would be the best, healthiest and most efficient way to bring out the best in an employee.

yes it is effective but its effeciency totaly depends upon the  existing environment of the company .
Such oppourtunity to employee  can be seen in both lights  i.e it can be used and misused depending opon employee himself & the  the company environment he is working with .
Its definately good , there 's no doubt it wont work but only when  the key is in right hand .
Therefore before giving such options company heads must go through the pros and cons of  the existing scenario , future trend and impacts so that the oppourtunity works in fruitfull maner.
