UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair and FTP stands for Foiled Twisted Pair.
UTP cable has no shielding, only an insulation around the cables.
FTP cable has a metal shield around all pairs - "the cable"- together.
FTP (foil screened twisted pair) cable is a cable containing multiple pairs of copper wire enclosed in a sheath of aluminum foil. It's used in wiring systems in buildings or other environments where heavy noise adjacent to the wire might cause interference. The foil provides insulation not afforded by UTP (unshielded twisted pair), the most common kind of structural wiring. The disadvantage of FTP is that it requires somewhat more care in "earthing" (grounding) than UTP and electrical impedances must be matched when connecting to UTP. Typically, FTP might be used in a factory setting and UTP in an office setting.
Almost all network cables are UTP ( Unshielded Twisted Pair) cables.FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is an internet protocol that is used to transmit a file from a FTP server o a computer.
STP is shielded twisted pair. This is commonly used in Europe to shield from EMI (Electromagnetic interference) due to the use of 220v compared to North America's 110v.
UTP is a Network Cable

UTP stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair and FTP stands for Foiled Twisted Pair.Unshielded cables are the perfect choice for SOHO (small office or home office) environment and shielded cables must be used more for running high end applications.

utp can cause interference while ftp cannot.
utp is unshielded and nomally used in a place where lenght of connection are too short while ftp are foiled and meant for longer connections.
