The operations master roles, also known as flexible single master operations (FSMO) roles, perform specific tasks within a domain. The five FSMO roles are:

1.Schema master role: Contains information of all classes and attributes of a forest
2.Domain naming master: It is important while adding/removing a domain in a forest.
3.Primay domain controller: Required to sync the time between domain controllers and other computers.
4.RID Master role: Distributes RID's to other Domain controllers.
5.Infrastructure role: required for updating group membership updates and other references of objects from one domain to another.
