Yes it can happen on a single LAN network. In a Single LAN there is1 Broadcast domain and several Collision Domains. But if VLANS are used there can be multiple broadcast domain as well(but you need a router on a stick.)

Yes certainly collisions occur in a single 

  Fnetwork since the collision occurs when two devices attempt to transmit at the same time and of course a network contains at least two devices, so the answer is yes
