A smart salesperson generally goes prepared with some buffer for negotiations or takes the boss along to handle such situations.
Sales persons who have done their home work before meetings mostly preempt situations and are well prepared to handle it.
Defined processes mutually agreed upon to follow must be strongly respected and broken rarely with justified post approvals.
