router is an inter networking device which is used to connect two different or logical network like two lan and or wan.

Router is one of the Internetworking Device which is used for connecting two or more LANs or WANs. Basically two Separate LAN or WANs.

basically, it connects different networks together; router is a layer3 device and its forward IP information through different networks.

Router in the man in-charge to route your traffic in or out your Network, another word your Gateway.

A router is used for communication between different networks. It is a layer3 device and uses IP address for communication.Also routers does not allow broadcast address to pass through.

Router is needed for routing of two different subnets.

For E.g PC1 has IP of.1.1.1/ and PC2 has IP of..1.1/ these2 PC cant talk to each other unless we have router or L3 switch.

the main purpose of using a router is to route between2 different network and to look for the best route to forward the frames by implementing routing protocol like EIGRP, RIP v2, OSPF....

also you can use it as DHCP server
