Why do elevators have mirrors?

psychologically it's a way to give people something to get busy with instead of concentrating on the scaring slow or fast movement of the elevator

also mirrors is often used in walls to give a small room a little bit more space feel , also used in ceilings to give more height .most people love mirrored elevators much more than ordinary decorated ones, it gives people some kind of comfort.

1. Give the breadth of the place for those who suffer from phobia of closed places

2. psychological trick to make the waiting time more bearable when one looks at the mirror

Elevators are generally very tight enclosures that make even people without claustrophobia feel uncomfortable. By hanging a mirror in an elevator the space visually expands. It plays a necessary psychological role. A side advantage for a mirror is to check yourself out before getting to you destination and meeting people.

1. They allow the passengers to "self groom"
2. They make the elevator car itself seem "larger" than it really is.

As the lift car is small to avoid this mirrors are used for reflection

-having a mirror in elevator helps people to see their appearance

-usually having a mirror in a space make the space looks bigger

Mirrors are usually added in small areas such as elevators  to give an illusion of a wider space. 

To add more space and the feeling of comfortability and safety. And for me as a psychology graduate, it will help to add more confidence when we see that we look good in that mirror.
