Making the cloth/ towel wet works because smoke is a colloid. “A colloid is a substance microscopically dispersed through another substance". The solid particles in the smoke will stick to the wet portion of the towel therefore eliminating the smoke..
continue evacuation through evacuation route. creep on the floor, and use breath masker or at least use cloth wet to prevent the smoke inhalation. do not try to break any closed door /windows because maybe it can cause back draft ...
1. Shout fire fire and call for help make alert everybody by shouting, if possible can raise the fire Alarm.
2. Escape through nearest fire escape or less smoke area.
3. Avoid breathing smoke when escaping by using wet cloth if possible. Use stair and keep head maximum low level. Better crawl through floor, stay close to the walls.
4. If got trapped by fire in a building, go to a less smoke room and close doors and windows. Or go to a room which has a window to open and see outside.
5. If came out side the building, go and stand in the assembly point.
go to stair case as it is generally pressurized with air and installed with stair case pressurisation unit along with fire exhaust fans, in case they are not operative then leave the building as soon as possible because death is not caused by fire it is generally caused by suffocation buit up due to smoke and other harmfull gases.
As stated in Protocol-Raise the alarm. Ensure that there is a smoke-stop lobby. Evacuate through designated passage way as meted out in the FEP. This is to be done during TTE. Fire Warden should guide the people to the safe haven or Assembly Area.
