Literature (creative literature) is primarily meant to entertain, so, aesthetic quality is the soul of literature. The other issues - the message conveyed through it - are subservient to aesthetics. Simply put, if the literary piece is aesthetically pleasing, it would succeed even if it doesn't convey any significant message. Harry Potter series is the best example. On the contrary, if the message is put forth in below normal aesthetically pleasing form, it would fall flat. A lot of writers fail to succeed for this reason as they sound like preachers, not like writers.

Aesthetics is the qualitative impact of the object in question. It is what makes the heart beat the voice sing

Aesthetics is the science of beauty. It governs all the arts.

Aesthetics in literature has to do more with the beauty of expression of ideas and thoughts that are in written form.

Aesthetics if added to any product or idea makes it more acceptable or likeable so that the viewer, reader or decoder will enjoy it more.

Witout aesthetics the world would be a dull place.

Quality of aesthetic literature is very important. The most credible articles are those by peer reviewed journals. Many published articles are little more than self-promotion maneuvers for the writer. It is important for surgeons to read with a critical mind and educate his/her patients.

Image and experience is everthing in today's world,be it literature or selling a can of coke. One could be well versed in literature and the arts but fall short because of a bad presentation, like the proverbial chinaman's shop.
