As the Team Leader accept responsibility, on behalf of the team, for the mistake. Ensure that timely and appropriate remedial action is taken to rectify the mistake. Counsel the employee and analysis between you how the mistake occurred. Hold a lessons learnt session with your team to prevent further mishaps.
first we should think about this mistake and put a specified definition for it then search for the reasons and put the suitable solutions that could improve the situation and choose the best of them
finally we must take lessons from this mistake to avoid its repeatation
I have heard once that using the term of “carrot and stick” is only appropriate
for animals, and we as humans should use another term of “light and heat” instead. In mistakes situations we either use light or heat. I would prefer to use the first one, because I believe that most people want to be at their best but mistakes do happen. When mistakes happen, we should work to improve the situation for everyone, ensure mistakes are not repeated, and that everyone involved learns from the issue. We should create positive, fair, and ethical culture. It is important to create a culture where making mistakes is celebrated and expected. Dumbing mistakes is bad, repeating mistakes is worst. Mistakes can be very costly to any company, but they allow employees to learn and grow. Organizations can develop rules that making honest mistake for the first time is OK, but repeating same mistake is not OK, because when someone make a mistake for the first time all team will help him to correct that mistake, but when he repeats that mistake he is on his own and he bears all the consequences. and if we are going to discipline someone who made a repeated mistake we should use the principle: “praise publicly and discipline privately”
It is critically important for each employee to feel empowered to go out and make decisions, and even make mistakes that go with those, otherwise everyone just sits around waiting for the boss to make a decision so nobody can be blamed for it.
At last, we should say that great leaders allow their people the freedom to make mistakes, because Mistakes are the pathway to great ideas and innovation, but good employees are those who when mistakes are made 1. Learn from them,2. Own them,3. Fix them, and4. Put safeguards in place to ensure the same mistake will never be repeated again. Thank you
