IR spectrum, is it sufficient to determine the formula of a chemical?

no, it only tells about founctional groups i.e. about double and triple bond,carbonyl and alcoholic groups etc.but not tell the position of bonds and functional group in analyte molecule.so it is not sufficient to find chemical formula of analyte

No , only the empirical formula of the compound

like it has a carbonyl group or not

or alcohol group or not
