Another effective tool to make non-economists understand economics is by discussing different subjects with people working in different fields. And also by mentioning like: lets see this from an economists' perpective and this from a doctors' perspecitive.
The best way to handle this is via training of targeted employees. I have done this in the past when in SamSung West Africa. As a matter of fact, everybody needs training and retraining as often as practicable. This is the best to boost productivity of the employees. I have also done this in the hospitality industry and it works very perfectly.

Financial Litracy is very important to make decisions in todays day to day life for one and all. In westeren world the financial litracy is introduced at the high school level and the students are getting the basic education from grade 10 onwards. This is one way of creating the financial awareness at a young age. It can help the society to be litrate in Financial education. The other ways are to create the complulsory basic education at the college and university levels for the non finance students at least for one semester.
I beileve that the "economic way of thinking" is more of a culture. I don't think studying some economics is enough to make someone think economically. People are either born with an economic mentality or, otherwise, they need to live in, and interact with, an environment that handles things from an economic point of view.
