Why do Customers Tip in a Restaurant when paying their bills? What factors influence a customer's decision to over tip or under tip your staff?

Whose fault is it when a customer does not leave gratuity and is it proper service to expect gratuity or our service standards should be the reason for us being gratified.

Tipping is not about generosity. Tipping isn’t about gratitude for good service. And tipping certainly isn’t about doing what’s right and fair for your fellow man.

 

Most customers have their standard tip amount in mind and don’t really think about it much beyond that. There are some other factors that influence over-tipping or under-tipping. For e.g,:

Time to serve matters.

Effort matters. 

Service matters. 

Demographics matters.

Mood of customer matters
