I have an experience of9 years in the above mentioned skills but I am not sure why I do not get a call for an interview. It seems like references are more likely to work here in Dubai as compared to Open Merit.
Thank you all for your answers and I feel refreshed after going through the suggestions and points mentioned by you all...
I do not know why but allow me to offer these suggestions:
- list along with your CV copies of certificates.
- go to seminars that can improve your skills and add knowledge to the current knowledge you posses.
- show your friends, especially those working for big, successful businesses, how your CV is written and they will gladly help you.
- If moving to another company is not feasible, suggest to your manager to promote you and tell them what skills you will use in the new job.
- Try changing your profile photo and add one with a suit.
- There's a feature in Bayt that let you upload a "video CV." I never used it but try to make an amazing video that shows your skills.
Because, there are more professionals, who have got experience, more than 9 years.
a job resercher tries to test your oral communication skills in listening carefully to questions, rewarding the main sentences and asking for clarifications.
There are million reasons why you are not called back. Top companies do not look just your experience. Try to focus on small things that you have done and others have not. Try to review your resume with an expert. Register on LinkedIn where you actually can be compared with other candidates. Call the business where you are applying to find out more about the position where you applying. I just have learnt recently that when you apply in UAE you have to put your actual references on your resume. Also you could look back and try to speak with your managers to give you a written references about your performance.
I don't think companies that expect change will prefer Employee reference, because every time you get a new employee through reference you are decreasing the chance of something new and fresh to the organization at the same time concreting the traditional practice of the existing work place.. so just wait...it might not be your cup of tea..
In addition to the answers, it could be your CV or cover letter is not triggering the employer's attention !
