I have had a previous experience with Customer Service and Call centers. You can view my profile and understand where I'm coming from. The BEST way to is to treat them like humans and NOT add so much pressure on them. They are already under huge stress and have to deal with so much bad cases most of the time. I have heard years ago that top3 hardest jobs in the world is: Police Man, Taxi Driver and Customer Service Agent.
Also, the more you show your appreciation, the better. Be flexible as much as possible. And, it is very impotant to have a healthy work environment.

Better train them and work with set of rules and polices based on customer surveys and comments.
