Basically used on oil & gas industries

Offshore Means At the site whether the site in the middle of the sea or the Deseret (Remote places)  (Mechanical - electric engineers etc... needed)

Onshore Means At the Company HQ (procurement Manager - document controller  etc....)

I hope you find my answer useful

Onshore means working on the land (desert) oil filed

Offshore means work on sea side site (platfrom) sea oil filed

The basic difference is that onshore jobs are taking place at the company sites and the offshore jobs are in the desert or middle of the sea.

The main difference between onshore and offshore is that offshoring involves getting work completed in a different country. ... Onshore refers to giving work to an organization in the same country you reside in.
