Yes You can install two or more than two OS in single machine.
For this purpose, you install Older version1st. For example if you want to install windows7 and8 in single machine. your must install windowsst and then windows8 in separate drive. And both drive should be primary partations not logical.
And if you want to install a Linux OS with Microsoft.. it is easy that..you install1st Linux and the windows.
NOTE: Linux required two primary partitions for installation. please make sure that your partitions should not be exceeded than2.
If your have windows OS and now you want to install Linux.
1. spare primary partitions for Linux
2. Than install Linux
3. after installation recover the Grub

If your machine is new and there is no system to install, then install one of them by creating 2 partitions. Partition 1 -> Windows 7 Partition 2 -> Windows XP
So you install them one by one, and after when you will restart you should find the 2 OS at startup.
WE CAN INSTALL MORE THE ONE WINDOWS OPARETING SYSTEM.
INSTALL FIRST OLDER VERSION THEN NEW VERSION
MAKE 2 PARTION ON THE HARD DISK AND INSTALL 1 OPERATING SYSTEM IN 1 HARD DISK THEN INSTAL OTHER OS IN 2 ND PARTITION

The Quick Look at Primary partition : This partition is usually the first partition. A primary partition cannot be subdivided into smaller sections. There can be up to four partitions per hard drive.
Each primary partition can contain operating system.
Install 1st OS at first partition, Install 2nd OS at Another Partition. You can get 4 OS at One HDD.
Its so easy you can install one OS in one partation and 2nd OS in other partation on same hard drive of your PC. Also another option you can deploy an other hard drive in your PC and install OS like one windows other Linux.
2 primary partitions in hard disk or virtuel box or use the linux
the easiest way to do this is to install your 1st operating system and then use VMware or virtual box to install the other operating system.
I have many time install the two OS in the PC's.Install in different partion and on the booting time computer will show you the options where you login
The easiest way i know is use virtualization (VMware). you can install multiple operating systems without risking existing installation. this is the easiest way of installing and removing mutiple OS.
