How a PLC activates an out going signal when getting incoming signal from an actuator?

I need to know about HOW PLC WORKS?

When a signal comes to PLC from a sensor so PLC immediately activate programmed out going signal to a circuit or any desired function. My question is what happen internally in PLC and  which part of a PLC receiving signal and processing it and after then activate PROGRAMMED out going signals.

Welcome for your kind suggestions.

Basically PLC has3 modules! input module, CPU module and the output module.

Desire control circuit is designed by using PLC software, then save it to PLC.

PLC recives command from input module then CPU analyze it with stored logic circuit and generate an output according to written logic circit.
