Laziness.. A business perspective.. Ability to plan.. Ability to handle failure.. Teamwork mentality.. Willingness to research.. Respect for deadlines.

It's simple actually, programmer who can think outside the box, can work without the need to micro-manage and most importantly produce codes that actually works and enjoy by people who uses it! No bugs, no issue...like a work of art.

Ability to create software that is;

  • Correct
  • Maintainable
  • Efficient
  • Reliable etc.

And ultimately something that is complete and that serves purpose to which it was created for. Over and above this i concur with Rehan Farooq ideals in his answer above.
