Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat.

- Cut has the greatest influence on a diamond's sparkle and ability to reflect light. It refers to the diamond shape, faceted, proportions and symmetry. Most diamond shapes are round, square (cushion),rectangular (princess, Asscheremerald, radiant), heart-shaped, pear-shaped, oval, or marquise.

- Colour grades range from D (colorless) to Z (yellow/light brown) and Fancy Colours. The diamond color scale is based on the amount of yellow present in a diamond. N.B.: Color D-E-F better to use on white gold only.

- Clarity (IF the best, VVS, VS, SI, I the worst) refers to diamond purity from internal or external flaws.

- Carat is the international unit of diamond weight

1 Carat diamond weight = 0.2 gram stone weight.

There is proportion between Carat weight and stone weight.

But there is no proportion between diamond Carat size and stone width or price (ex: 1 Carat = 6.5 mm width, but 0.5 Carat = 5 mm.)
