Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat.
- Cut has the greatest influence on a diamond's sparkle and ability to reflect light. It refers to the diamond shape, faceted, proportions and symmetry. Most diamond shapes are round, square (cushion),rectangular (princess, Asscher, emerald, radiant), heart-shaped, pear-shaped, oval, or marquise.
- Colour grades range from D (colorless) to Z (yellow/light brown) and Fancy Colours. The diamond color scale is based on the amount of yellow present in a diamond. N.B.: Color D-E-F better to use on white gold only.
- Clarity (IF the best, VVS, VS, SI, I the worst) refers to diamond purity from internal or external flaws.
- Carat is the international unit of diamond weight
1 Carat diamond weight = 0.2 gram stone weight.
There is proportion between Carat weight and stone weight.
But there is no proportion between diamond Carat size and stone width or price (ex: 1 Carat = 6.5 mm width, but 0.5 Carat = 5 mm.)

Clarity of a Diamond refers to its optical quality. Grading of clarity is based on the size, number and position of the internal or external flaws.
The Colour in Diamonds ranges from totally colourless through a progression of tinted and lighter colours to fully saturated Fancy Colours.
The Cut refers to the shape and faced style of a Diamond. The quality of the cut determinates the light performance of a Diamond and can have the greatest effect on its value. To have the highest possible Light return is important the proportions, symmetry and finish.
The Carat is a international unit of weight for diamonds

According to the Diamond proportions, the size and weight are related in average of 1.0 Carat=6.5mm
