If possible detail a bit how do you use the BIM models for planning related activities
Synchro PRO4D BIM Construction Scheduling Software
You can take any3D Building component like HVAC system as an example. Now let's assume the CAD generated models can now be imported into a BMS (building management system) software) providing the user a real time GUI (graphical user interface). Such tricks can be done with various BACNet softwares (check out Coretech, UK based co.)
Synchro is a very good software to do so and have much more options than navisworks ,but as an easier interference navis since seems a pretty good enough software for4D simulation ,very flexibale for rules system but if you want comparison or multi-simulation Model you have to use Synchro or get ready to alot of manual and media editing work
For me i would always recommend Synchro pro .
First of all you have to decide what do you expect from the4D simulation , then you choose the software which can achieve it.

First we need to identify4D BIM as integrating quantity takeoff, location-based quantities, resources, productivity rates, and labor costs into the model & this can be achieved by Revit or by more advanced software like Navisworks. Also construction sequencing and planning can also produce a4D animation. This means that elements from the model are assigned a logical construction sequence and put together in an animation which shows the Owner how the building will come together & I use mainly Navisworks to achieve this job.
