If your using sum formula in excel you can press short cut key Alt+=

If you want addition =sum (A1,B1) Where symbol = is use for formula SUM for function () for cells or range. Simply =A1+B1 means add A1 and B1 same like this =A1*B1 means multiplication =A1/B1 mean dividing. There are many different types of formulas used as per their requirements. Vlook up Hook up Countif Sum Average etc etc
