How much is it important to know local language for customer care jobs?

it's not important at all! believe me, i speak5 language  and the only language am using it with my customer is only English.

Its a well known fact that today's market is customer driven and language plays a very important role in customer driven market. Having knowledge of local language helps in getting closer with the customer, thereby making it easy to get his trust. 

In Customer care jobs it is all the more important because the customer care executive is able to give detailed view point to the customer. There will be a negligible chance of  miscommunication in case one knows the local language.
