Well in my opinion there is a lot of sustainability involved in the way a space is organized. If properly designed then a space would for example maximize on sun for heat and shade for coolness depending on location to minimize the use of electricity. If an interior designer takes these things into consideration not only can they maximize the use of the space but can also minimize the cost of maintenance and create a lower environmental footprint.
Mrs Maali Qasem Khader give great example about how can design impact environmental factors like energy consumption, and Mrs Noura Salah Eldin talked about LED technology and recycling, so i will talk about how material selected by interior designer can help in sustaining our environment :
- using thermodynamic material instead of traditional (i.e using blanco mortar in plastering instead of regular cement, thermo glass, poly carbonate sheet .. etc)
- using bio gradable plastic furniture
- stop using restricted and Endangered Wood Specie in furniture and veneer, we can use engineering (artificial) veneer
The use of LED lighting
Energy conservation using solar and wind energy any use of alternative energy in the operation of the building
The incoming raw materials to be recycled in a safe and environmentally design and Ally, for example the use of Barticaboard plates, a plate made of% recycled wooden planks and cladding to the walls in case you need to wooden surfaces and thus is not a new section of wood consumption
( Thank the invitation , sustainability ( light , sun , location and used all space
everyone elaborated every nicely. i would like to add " consider carbon emission in the whole building life cycle process not only in choosing material but operationally as well and the great example for interior designer is to follow LEED processes in sustainability".
thank you for invitation , i agree with Maali Qasem Khader
Thanks for invitation, Sustainability is:
- Focus on long-term environmental impact of space using natural environmentally friendly materials such as wood with operating and maintenance attention.
- Use of the possibilities of smart automation options in the design and adapted to the development of the space design.
- Increasing green spaces ventilation paths to suit the space - if possible –
- Balance in the use of raw materials and colors to give positive energy to users.
- Maintaining and minimize the use of clean energy.
Use non-toxic and non-polluting products.
Reduce waste by using reclaimed or recycled materials.
