Challenges in Warehouse & Logistics Business:

1. Inventory Accuracy - It is vital in a business for decision making, there should be a target inventory accuracy to ensure that numbers are reliable and almost accurate. To meet that target date there should be a regular inventory weekly, monthly and annual. With that weekly inventory count, it easily to trace back any discrepancies and can right away reconcile and corrected it. With that regular inventory counting our warehouse staff will have awareness on the importance to update and review the inventory which is the basic and important factor to have a reliable inventory accuracy.

2. Warehouse Space- It is a common problem among business, the space, first we have to identified the monthly requirements as basis for computing the warehouse requirements. We should also have the historical date for the in and out of the stocks on the warehouse for us to identify the capacity. With that planning for deliveries are more accurate and reliable and also plan the deliveries of goods inside the warehouse. Coordination is the key to have a good warehouse management. Highlight those stocks that are slow and non-moving for early disposition of the stocks  to avoid space congestion in the area.

1. Inventory accuracy. When manufacturers don't have full visibility to their inventory, they face the problems of either running out of stock at the wrong time or carrying too much stock and thus decreasing cash flow while increasing expenses to warehouse extra materials. Of the two challenges, Garcia says the greater problem is inventory shortage, which can lead to unfulfilled orders and unhappy customers.

2. Inventory location. "Lack of inventory oversight can cause a buildup of inefficiencies within the warehouse that slows operations and increases costs," Garcia says. "Without adequate insight into location, pickers take longer to find the items to ship, which slows the loading process and creates a backup in labor allocation and dock-door scheduling."

3. Space utilization/warehouse layout. It's not about how much space you have; it's about optimizing that space to avoid unnecessary labor. Keep fast-moving and high-selling inventory near the front of the facility so lift truck drivers aren't constantly traveling to the farthest reaches of the warehouse.

Hidden discrepancies are the biggest challenges now a days in warehousing. Especially when you have appointed a third party logistics provider (3PL). It is quiet impossible for auditors to trace out such discrepancies.

There are not much challenges if work done oina systematic manner and keeping few things in mind

1) Cost and mode of forwarding the consignment

2)Location of warehouse as it should not be too far away from the production units, as there will be minimum loss which we take while transit

3) Proper utilization of warehouse by segmenting the allocted area and keep the supply chain working for the space at warehouse to be available allways.

1. Maintain Accuracy ..

To maintain accuracy is most challenging part of warehouse. due to huge inbound and outbound make lots of discrepancy if we do not follow the right way or system to perform inbound ( receiving and putaway) and outbound ( picking and dispatch ).

2. Manage space ..

To manage space is also most challenging part of warehouse. as long as no huge shipment no problem but in warehouse always huge stock in different different SKU also new shipment, to store such huge stock  systematic  is always big challenge to management.
