K. Ziegler is German Scientist who firstly discovered it
M1 catalyst is a trade name of modified Ziegler/Natta catalyst for ethylene polymerization only. This catalyst was discovered and patented in the late's of the last century. K. Ziegler is German Scientist who firstly discovered it and used it for ethylene polymerization. G. Natta who was used the same concept of this catalyst for propylene polymerization. Accordingly, both scientists have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in for their success scientific contribution. The M1 catalyst is developed by Univation Co. (formerly Union Carbide). It is designed to polymerize ethylene for linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) in the gas phase reactor.
