Inexperienced should get hired too cause I believed that everything can be learned. They might not have experience but the passion to the work they desired will be their asset. All they have to do is to have a presence of mind in everything they do.
Engage in online self-development. Online tutorials which can also provide certifications for additional skills or enroll in a class that offers specialized trainings. But it doesn't mean that they should stop applying for posts that they think they are capable to do. Yes, most employers are looking for experienced employees but inexperienced ones are easier to train and less expensive as entry-level.
Remember that the brain is like a house with different rooms, the more experienced you are, the more rooms are already filled. So inexperienced people are sometimes much better as they can easily absorb things than experienced ones who needs to unlearn previous knowledge.
But then again, each situation, has its on pros and cons, and it really depends on the employers on how they will gauge each applicant based on their interviews. Some are inexperienced but well versed and knowledgeable when you get to interview them, some are not. You really have to see the person personally and talk to them before someone can say that this is not capable of doing this and that.
It's simple. Go for internships and do research projects in the relevant field. This the the best way they can showcase their skills & abilities and convince employers to offer a good job.
