Performance appraisal is a process in which we evaluate, judge, measure or estimate performance reference to predefined performance standards such as goals, objectives, achievement targets and competencies with identified proficiency level while competency mapping is the process of identifying and framing competencies for a specific job or role. Competency mapping tell us what are the job required competencies (knowledge, skills and abilities) and what are the proficiency levels for each competency regardless of the job occupant. Competency mapping will guide how the job will be done and performance appraisal measure how the employee performed in carrying the job tasks and achieving the goals and objective.

performance appraisal is the measurement of performance of a employee r it's team for a particular time span,on the other hand competency mapping is the measurement of someone's capacity of ability to do something.
