-education is the first ,and one of the most essential elements of PHC

2-Locally endemic disease control

-prevention and control of local diseases is critical to promoting PHC in population

-prevention may be

Primary (e.g. health promotion and immunization)

Secondary (e.g. screening)

 

Tertiary (rehabilitation)

3-Expanded programs for immunization

§  6 major killers of children worldwide that are preventable by vaccines

1–Measles                                                                                    2-Whooping cough                                                                    3-Tetanus                                                                                    4-Polio                                                                                         5-Tuberculosis                                                                    6-Diphtheria

 

§  Expanded programs of immunization would vastly  improve this situation (e.g. Hepatitis B Vaccine and Second dose of Measles Vaccine being added on a provincial bases)

4-Maternal and child health including responsible parenthood

 

-        Ensuring  comprehensive and adequate health care to children and to the mother, both expecting and otherwise is another essential component of PHC

5-Essential drugs

 

By providing essential drugs to those who need them such as antibiotics ,anti-hypertensive,,,,,

6-Nutrition

Nutrition is another essential element of PHC

Nutrition is one of the functions of public health system

7-treatment

By treating diseases and injuries right away, Care givers can help

                            a)avoid complications and

                            b)Avoid expense of  later, more Extensive medical treatment.   

8-Safe water and sanitation

A supply of clean ,safe drinking water , and basic sanitation measure regarding trash, sewage,  and water cleanness  can:

a) significantly  improve the health                                                                        of a population

 

b)reducing and even eliminating many preventable disease
