Because it is the only way to hold the connection between swivel or fitting to stand the pressure of hydraulic oil being delivered inside the hose. Avoid leakage

A hydraulic hose can only be used if there is a fitting on the end. It is the method of getting this fitting on to the hose which is referred to as crimping or swaging. It is a straightforward compression method, using different sized die and a compression collar.

To make secure a leak proof connection between a metallic connector and rubber hose. that is required in the hydraulic circuit to prevent leakage other wise pressure will drop due to leakage and power will not be transmitted properly.
