Well to me, there are several aspects to determine a good programming language, while today the Human factor is much more expensive than formerly the run time performance, the key factors that determine the importance of a programming language are a- Ease of designing and coding.Debugging.c-Maintenance. d- Re-usability. Those factors state characteristics of object oriented programming. According to such information i see that JAVA and C#, both are crossplatform, and both adapt to all those characteristics, and are the top programming languages, that are sufficient enough to get you to code anything you can imagine
