1. economic-means money lost due to people not at work (home sick) spent on doctor/hospital bills (can be deadly) can cost restaurants money by customers not eating there again 2. social cost: People who are ill cannot be out in public, need a bathroom quickly, feel embarrassed about it, miss work or school, events etc
