in general in market research you must make an excel sheet with the main items (this is the primary research ) & then include in the sheet the details of each item ( this is the secondary research ).

in my work i make many market researches in solar , led , recycling , r.d.f. projects and this is the best way to collect data & make an excellent market research.market

Thank you dear Shadi ,

First of all , we need to use both of them in our business and almost we cant neglect one of them , any way , they are :

  1. Secondary : contains general ,informal ,approximately numbers or details , and if you are researcher you can find it easily on directories , web sites , news papers .
  2. Primary: contains specific information ,ratios ,formal numbers and figures that you need to build your research which you want to build on you decision\\s .

Exactly, agree with the answers given.

The main purpose of Primary is collect data about sales results and analyse how much are efficient the Marketing actions. This kind of search also evaluate the competitors plans, searching more information about their action in the market.

In this Primary research the data collect can be:

a) interviews - phone, email, personally..etc

b) Companies sites or social media

c) Surveys

d) Inquiries with a sample panel of potential customers or clients

The Secondary , is the phase where we need to analyse the data that were published, for example by statistical companies/institutes.

With these data is possible to identify competitors, establish references and locate more accurate segmented targets where we can act.

Primary research - It is nothing but first research, i.e. study written by a person who was part of the study. eg. Data collection by data bank.

Secondary Research - Analysis and interpretation of primary research is called secondary research. eg. census report using data from data bank.

Secondary research is the first step in doing research to gather raw information, to gain a situation analysis & for setting the main objectives. But the primary research role coming next to gain answers of a specific questions & for filling gaps in research.

Primary research is defined as factual, firsthand accounts of the study written by a person who was part of the study. The methods vary on how researchers run an experiment or study, but it typically follows the scientific method. One way you can think of primary research is that it is typically original research.

Secondary research is defined as an analysis and interpretation of primary research. The method of writing secondary research is to collect primary research that is relevant to a writing topic and interpret what the primary research found. For instance, secondary research often takes the form of the results from two or more primary research articles and explains what the two separate findings are telling us. Or, the author may have a specific topic to write about and will find many pieces of primary research and use them as information in their next article or textbook chapter.
