life style modification which include exercises and diet
exercise include 1/2 h three times a week
diet rich in fibers and unsaturated fat
Exercise for diabetics would depend on several factors like age, level of cardiovascular fitness and what the patient actually enjoys doing. According to the ADA guidelines, moderate exercise at least 30 minutes mist days of the week would suffice. Walking, tai chi, gardening and low impact aerobics can be recommended to those are advanced age and have relatively low exercise tolerance. For active individuals, moderate to high intensity exercise most days of the week can be done.
Nothing too strenuous as the patient will be tired easily.
some brisk walking, cycling or jogging will be perfect.
Unless the patient has a sympthomatic or proven coronary disease, progressive retinopathy or severe autonomic or periperal neuropathy i would recommend at least 30 minutes walk daily or 150 minutes walk a week and aerobic exercises.
.The American College of Sports Medicine and American Diabetes Association recommend that patients with type 2 diabetes participate in at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise weekly with resistance training two or three times weekly.
Children and adolescents with type 1 or type 2 diabetes should engage in 60 min/day or more of moderate or vigorous intensity aerobic activity, with vigorous, muscle-strengthening, and bone-strengthening activities included at least 3 days/week.
in addition life style modification which include diet control ( food rich in fiber , unsaturated fat and low glycemic index)
So we are taalking to a fitness regime not talking to the medication or regime and diet.
If you have an extreme case of diabet first of all you just walk in fresh air,and increase the walking after two weeks.Dont try to start by running because it can damage your muscles and have heart attack or failure.
So walking and cycling is the best fitnes regime as the begining ,after that you can begin climbing but not in a high place .When you feel your body better or with an energy than you can increse this type of regime, but never stress your body with heavy excerise ,until you do not prepare it .
It is very important that fitnes regime is combined also with the feeding regime.
Diabetic patient should not exercise if the blood glucose is more than 300 mgldl or less than 100, i'll not speak about important of exercise as all of us know it, regarding exercise regimen; with Diabetic patients it is better to have opposite triangle base regimen (anaerobic), start with high intensity exercise with heart rate above 70% of max heart rate to be in glucose burn zone, then go slight down with the intensity, but you heart rate will stay in high HR zone, this style will help you to decrease the blood glucose level. This way is not suitable for everyone as some patients their body react to this exercise with release of stress hormone which will lead to increase the blood glucose level, in this case we have to use aerobic exercise within fat burn zone 60 to 70 % of max heart rate. for all patients we need to measure BGT before the exercise, 2 times during the exercise, and at the end of exercise, 2 hours after the exercise, for the first 3, 4 times till we are sure about the suitable regimen for each one then we can do only before and after the exercise
Exercise is safe—and highly recommended—for most people with type2 diabetes, including those with complications. Along with diet and medication, exercise will help you lower blood sugar and lose weight. However, the prospect of diving into a workout routine may be intimidating. If you're like many newly diagnosed type2 diabetics, you may not have exercised in years. If that's the case, don't worry: It's fine to start slow and work up. These tips will help you ease back into exercise and find a workout plan that works for you.
