Volume Mean Dia: It is defined as the diameter of a sphere that has the same volume/surface area ratio as a particle of interest

Equivalent dia: An equivalent diameter of a particle is usually defined in relation to a specific sizing method developed on the basis of a certain equivalency criterion.

Hydraulic Radius: The hydraulic radius is the cross sectional area / wetted perimeter. It is a measure of efficiency

1- Mean diameter is the distance from one point on a circle, through the center to the other side. D=2r   2- equivalent diameter is the diameter of a circular or pipe that gives the same pressure loss as an equivalent rectangular duct or pipe.      3- hydraulic radius is a measure of channel flow efficiency.    OR   The ratio of the channel's cross-section area of a conduit in which a fluid is flowing to the inner perimeter of the conduit.
