If he wants to work as a freelancer then no need any degrees since he is talented in his profession whereas he is going work in any other organization or any other option coming to present his educational qualifications then there should be a question mark "?" he needs to rethink.

Thanks. For a writer, I think the skill of original piece of creative writing is enough not  the degree. I feel so. cheers.

Focus on reading and exposing yourself to variety of experiences. If you want to write words, you should have already read, words on related subject before.

Success will happen when opportunity meets preparation and not by degree. Most students stop learning the moment they are out of the classroom. Constant preparation is needed and all that counts is dedication and work, there is no substitute for it.

A talented writer is a great start for a successful journalist. However, to pursue journalism as a career, that writer must either learn from working experience necessary skill sets that appeal to his audience, tone and narrative or learn these skills from a journalist degree. In my personal opinion, nowadays anyone can learn anything online, but for the sake of official institutes, a degree is favorable.

To become a journalist, some intrinsic skills are necessary to achieve success.  First off, you’ve got to have an inquiring mind.  You must be passionate about knowledge and learning, and willing to do what it takes to get at the truth behind a story.

The talented writer needs to expand his skill learning experience and read other writings of Western foreign to increase his skill

It is always better to have a degree in journalism for any writer. This will give an added advantage. It is not a must though. Talent and experience is more than enough to get you famous in journalism.

He may not need a journalism degree but at least he needs to widen his knowledge about journalism through the internet or books, as he needs to know how to address each reader and how to make his article clear and understood by every reader.
